My name is Shane Balkowitsch and I founded the Nostalgic Glass Wet Plate Studio on October 4th, 2012. I was not a photographer, in fact my first personal camera was my large format wet plate bellows camera. I am fascinated with the human condition.  It is this fascination that has led me to focus strictly on portraiture. The images that I make consist of silver on glass will and last a thousands years, long after the my subjects and I are gone. It is this romantic thought of capturing a person in a long exposure that stirs my imagination.  I have the desire to photograph as many human beings as possible while I am here.
